IMPORTANT STUDENT VISA CHANGES FROM 2 OCTOBER 2026
📌 No general onshore applications

Most temporary visa holders in Australia can no longer apply for a Student visa while in Australia. If the new rules apply to you, you must be outside Australia when you lodge the application and when the visa is granted.
📌 Family members can no longer generally be included
Student visa applicants can no longer include their partner or dependent children unless a specific exemption applies.
Current Student visa holders also cannot add family members as subsequent entrants after their visa has been granted.
These changes can significantly affect your study and family migration plans.
👉 If you are considering a Student visa, check the new rules before making plans or travelling. If you are unsure whether an exemption applies to you, seek professional advice before lodging an application.
