Big changes are coming for families planning to reunite in Australia.
From 22 April 2026, applications for four permanent Parent visa subclasses will move to online lodgement via ImmiAccount.
What’s changing?
Paper applications will no longer be the standard. From this date, they will only be accepted in exceptional circumstances, such as verified technical issues with ImmiAccount through the official support channels.
Why this is good news
Online lodgement brings clear advantages for both applicants and agents:
Faster and more efficient processing
Immediate confirmation of submission
Easier document uploads and tracking
Better communication with the Department
What about applications you’re preparing now?
If you’re currently planning to lodge a paper application for a Parent visa, it may be worth waiting until 22 April 2026 to submit online instead — so you can benefit from the streamlined process from the start.
What to expect next
From 22 April, updated step-by-step instructions will be available on each Parent visa page, guiding applicants through the online application process.
If you’re considering a Parent visa or already preparing an application, feel free to reach out — navigating these changes early can make a big difference to your strategy.
