Important update for Partner visa applicants

The Department of Home Affairs has released the April 2026 Partner visa processing update, highlighting stricter expectations and a clear shift towards decision-ready applications.

The Department is now placing much greater emphasis on submitting complete and well-prepared applications from the start. Incomplete or weak applications are increasingly leading to delays or refusals, and in many cases applicants may only be given one opportunity to provide additional information before a decision is made.

Another key message is that applicants must actively monitor their ImmiAccount and respond promptly to any requests, as missed deadlines can result in decisions being made based on the information already available.

The update also reinforces that properly organised documentation, strong relationship evidence, and ongoing updates throughout processing are essential to keep an application “decision-ready” at all times.

What this means in practice is simple: there is less room for mistakes, fewer second chances, and a much stronger focus on getting everything right from the beginning.

At our agency, we professionally prepare and lodge Partner visa applications, ensuring they are complete, compliant, and decision-ready from day one. We also manage all follow-up actions, monitor requests from the Department, and keep your application updated throughout the entire process.

If you are planning to apply for a Partner visa or already have an application in progress, now is the time to make sure everything is done properly. Get in touch with us to discuss your situation.
